Sayonara Antonio

Me preparando pra mais uma viagem ao Japão, e o coração já pequenininho por deixar meu pimpolho e a dona patroa por uma semana... tentei resover isso da melhor maneira possível, mas acho que teria que pagar excesso de bagagem.

Getting ready for another Japanese tour, and already missing Antonio and Sandra. I thought of a away to solving this, but I guess the new rules for luggage would not allow me to use my carry on...

Developments & Desenvolvimentos

Hoje levamos o Antonio para visitar o Dr. Blake, que foi um dos neonatologistas dele no hopsital, e que mantém uma clínica especializada no "desenvolvimento" dos bebês prematuros.

Foi uma visita boa, e está tudo bem com nosso pequeno guerreiro -- que estava medindo 52 cm e pesando 5.726 gramas. Para resumir, o Dr. Blake falou, que se não fosse por ter reconhecido a Sandra e eu, ele nunca acharia que o Antonio era prematuro! Claro que nós ficamos muito corujas...

Depois disso demos uma passadinha rápida na UTIN pra ver as nomorados do Antonio, e ficamos contentes de rever a Cathy, Cindy, July, Lynn e o "verdadeiro" Dr. Mike -- que ficou super contente de rever o Antonio também.



Today we took Antonio to Dr. Blake's Developmental Clinic at St. Joseph's.. Dr. Blake was one of the Neonatologists that took$ care of Antonio. All went very well, Antonio is 12 lbs 10 oz and 22 1/2 inches long today), and to summarize the vist Dr. Blake said that if he had not recognized Sandra and me, he would never had guessed that Antonio had been born prematurely! That made my day...

After that, we stopped by the NICU to see Antonio's girlfriends, and it was nice to see Cathy, Cindy, Lynn and Julie (no Bridget!) and of course Dr. Mike that was very happy to see his little buddy doing so well.

O papai e a mamãe não foram muito bacanas com algumas das visitas que eu já recebi desde vim para casa, pois nunca fizeram menção deles no blog. Portanto, para fazer justiça, gostaria de agradecer as seguintes presenças...

Mommy and daddy were not very considerate with some of the people that came by to visit me since I've been home. They never mentioned any thing in the blog, so I decided to thank them myself...



Esta é a tia Carrie, umas das melhores amigas da mamãe -- ela é muito bonita e legal, e a primeira vez que eu caí na piscina ela estava lá pra me dar uma força.

This is Carrie, who is one of mommy's bestest friends -- isn't she pretty? Yes she is, and very nice too. She helped me go in the pool for the first time... I wish she would come visit more often!





Esta é a tia Abby, que é nossa vizinha. Ela é a mãe da Corinne e da Maya, que aparece na foto abaixo. Eles são muito amigos do papai e da mamãe, e estão sempre agitando o condomínio com festas.

This is Abby, who is our next door neighbor. She is the mommy of Corinne and Maya, who are in the pictures below. They are good friends of mommy and daddy, and the two families get together often and are always having nice parties.

Esse é meu tio Bill, irmào da mamãe... ele é grandão e forte, masi morre de medo de me segurar. Acho que ele acha que eu vou quebrar facilemnete, mas ele se esquece que eu já provei que sou o Highlander!

This is my uncle Bill, mommy's brother... he's very tall and strong, but still afraid of holding me. I think he thinks that I'm going to break easily, despite the fact I already proved I am the Highlander!

Pool Party

Yesterday was another lazy summer day and I had my first pool party: my pal Corinne Emerson, from next door, came to visit and we swam a little together. It was fun, and I hope she will come again soon!

Ontem foi mais um daqueles dias preguiçosos de verão, e eu tive minha primeira festa na piscina: Minha amiguinha e vizinha Corinne Emerson veio me visitar e nós fomos nadar um pouquinho. Me divertí bastante, e espero que ela volte mais vezes!

Mais uma Aventura & One More New Adventure

Algums dias atrás eu estava calmamente tentando tirar uma soneca, quando sem mais nem menos fui atacado por um urso. Mas eu dei uma Boca de Calça nele e o resto é história.

I was trying to take a nap the other day and this bear attacked me... a bear attacked me!!! But I am a good fighter, and I was able to kick his a$$ with my bear hands... :0))

Fui na Piscina de Novo & I went in the Pool again...

Hello Everybody, I am back to let you know that Daddy let me go in the pool again last Saturday. This time I really enjoyed it and even "swam" a little!

Queridos Tios e Tias, eu estou de volta pra contar que no sábado passado o papai deixou eu cair na piscina mais uma vez.. dessa vez eu me amarrei de montão, e até "nadei" um pouquinho!

Deixa eu tentar isso... Let me try this.

Minha mãe e meu pai andam muito preguiçosos, então eu resolvi tomar as rédeas do meu blog e postar algumas das minhas últimas aventuras...

Mommy and Daddy have been very lazy lately, so I decided to take over the blog and tell you some of my latest adventures...



Quando eu ainda estava na UTIN, as enfermeiras (como vingança por todo o trabalho que eu dei pra elas) me ensinaram muito bem a dar uma canseira no Papai e na Mamãe que é pra eles tirarem umas sonecas boas comigo...

When I was still at the NICU, the nurses (as revenge for all the work I gave them) made sure to teach me how to give mommy and daddy a run for their money, so they get tired and take nice naps with me....



I faço por onde e sempre consigo que a mamãe e o papai me mantenham limpinho, me dando banho dia-sim-dia-não, que era a escala que eu tinha quando estava no hospital... eu adoro tomar banho à noite, pois me relaxa completamente antes de ir pra cama dormir.

I make sure to make Mommy and Daddy keep me squeek-clean, by giving me a bath every other day as I used to have at the NICU... I really enjoy the baths, it really relaxes me before going to bed.



Na quarta-feira passada eu tomei mais vacinas -- contra meningite, hepatite A, pneumonia, tetravalente (Difteria, Tétano, Coqueluche e Hib) e pólio. Eu fui muito corajoso e nem chorei muito, mas no dia seguinte me deu uma ziquizira danada e estive com febre o dia todo, preocupando todos lá em casa... especialmente a mamãe, que queria ligar pras enfermeiras da UTIN e o Dr. Mike a cada 5 minutos.

Last wednesday I got my six-month vaccines -- against meningitis, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough), Hib, polio, and hepatatis A. I was very tough and did not cry much, but the next day I ran a fever for most part of the day, making everybody worry at home... especially mommy, who wanted to call the nurses at the NICU and Dr. Mike every five minutes!

Algumas rapidinhas:

1. Antonio não está mais usando a cânula nasal durante o dia desde a última Sexta-Feira. Até agora não tivemos nenhum problema, há não ser quando precisamos colocar a cânula novamente para ele dormir durante a noite... ele simplesmete odeia os "canudinhos" no nariz dele.





2. Ontem pela primeira vez vimos o Antonio brincando de verdade com a girafa e os elefantes que ficam pendurados no bebê conforto... ele segurou o elefante verde com a mãozinha dele, riu, e depois o usou como sparring! Tem um vídeo mais abaixo...
   





3. Antonio usou um sapatinho pela primeira vez, e começou por cima usando um par de tênis "el Asics" que a tia Emília mandou pra ele do Brasil... ele adorou a novidade por uns dez minutos, depois reclamou até a Sandra tirar os tênis dos pezinhos dele.

Some quickies:

1. Antonio stopped using the nasal cannula during the day since last Friday... so far, so good, and the only isue we have is when it is time to put the cannula back on at nights for him to go to sleep -- he hates the little "prongs" stufed up his nose!





2. The video above shows what is, we can say, the exact moment that Antonio intentionally played with the toys hanging on his bouncy seat -- he looked at the elephant, held it with his litle hands, smiled, and started punching as the pachiderm was his sparring!



3. Antonio wore tennis shoes for the first time... he tried a pair of "El Asics" auntie Emilia sent from Brazil... he liked it for about 10 minutes, then he cried until Sandra took them off.
   

Bye, Bye Grandpa & Oma... please do come visit again!

Jim and Karin left on Saturday and Antonio already misses them... we do as well, in special when we need a break from our little guy, which means, based on his behavior the last few days, we've been missing them a lot!

The visit was great and was good to see Jim taking care with Antonio, like in the picture below:



Also, Antonio had lots of fun on the 4th, including watching the fireworks our neighbors were setting off... actually, he did set off some of his own "fireworks" as well. What can I say, the boy is very patriotic... he might even wear an American flag pin, like Barack!

Hey Gramps, Halo Oma

This is another special week for little Antonio: After my mom coming to visit, now it's Sandra's dad and stepmother that came all the way from Florida to spend the week with us.

Antonio is really liking the visit, and enjoying spending time with Jim and Karin, and they are both being extremelly helpful, taking good care of Antonio, and giving Sandra and me some big brakes during the day.

Mais uma semana cheia de emocoes para o nosso pequeno guerreiro Antonio. Depois da visita da vovo Margarina, ele esta recebendo esta semana o pai e a madrasta da Sandra que vieram da Florida pra passar a semana com a gente.

O Antonio esta adorando a visita, e a Karin e o Jim estao sendo uma mao na roda pra gente!

All is Well When Está Tudo Bem...

Só um post rapidinho pra dizer que ontem o Antonio recebeu "alta" do oftalmologista, specialiats em retina referente a Retinoplastia da Prematuridade... O Antonio ainda precisará ser acompanhado de perto por outro oftalmologista, pois é comum para prematuros terem outror problemas de visão.

Mas é bom ter menos uma coisa pra se preocupar, afinal ele está preocupadíssimo com o jogo de amanhã. Ele hoje me disse que tá com cara de terminar com disuta de penaltis...

Just a quick post to let you all know that Antonio graduated from the ROP by the specialist in retina... he will still need to me follow up by another ophthalmologist, as it is very comom for preemies to have other vision deficiencies.

But it is nice for us to have one less thing to be worried about...
