Nesse fim de semana prolongado (Hoje é dia do Trabalho aqui nos EUA) o Antonio quis comer um churrasquinho, e nós como bom pais atendemos o pedido dando a ele a vaquinha que o acompanhou durante um bom tempo na UTIN... olha a diferença do tamanho.

Nothing like a little BBQ on Labor Day, and because Antonio wanted it, we gave back his little cow, his best friend during a long period at the NICU... You can really see the difference in size!













Also, Antonio loves to play in his "Flying Saucer" or Baby Einstein Activity Center... it has so many things to entertain the little guy -- and at the same time give mommy and daddy a brake! See some pictures and video below:

Medical News & Novidades Médicas

Just a very quick update to let you guys know the latest health news about Antonio.

First, as we suspected, Antonio did not pass the "sleep test," so he will be require to continue receiving oxygen during the night. The good news is that Dr. Sterni mentioned that he actually showed great progress, and most likely he will be off the O2 in the next few months.

However, because his O2 sats went to low 90s as soon as he got into deep sleep, Dr. Sterni also recommended that we start using a pulsox monitor whenever he takes a long nap.

Also, Dr. Mike called yesterday to let us know that the results of his last electrolyte panel came is, and he is now off of the potassium for good -- Yey!!

Apenas um post rapidinho pra contar as últimas novidades sobre a saúde do nosso pequeno lutador de sumo... Pra começar, como suspeitávamos, o Antonio não passou no seu teste do sono, portanto ele ainda vai precisar receber por mias laguns meses o oxigênio para dormir durante a noite.

De qualquer forma, a Dra. Sterni nos disse que ele foi muito bem, e que ele deve conseguir "passar" nos próximos meses, e que vai recomendar que ele refassa o teste em meados de Outubro.

Além disso, ela também recomendou que passássemos a usar um mnitor de O2 sepre que ele tirar uma soneca um pouco mais prolongada... isso por que, durante o teste, a saturação do )2 no sangue caiu rapidamente para 90% assim que o Antonio caiu no sono.

Outra notícia boa, é que o Dr. Mike nos ligou ontem pra dizer que os resultados do último exame de sangue saiu, e que o panel dos eletrólitos foi perfeito, e portanto nosso Antonio não precisa receber mais potássio extra.

Hello everyone, sorry I have been quite busy and haven't had much time to keep up with my blog. I should start out by telling you that I now weigh 15 lbs and am 23 inches long, my mommy tells me that I am going through a growth spurt because my hands and feet look much bigger than before. I am still eating with a spoon and really like it, it gets easier and easier to do each day. So far I have had pears, oatmeal and prunes. My favorite is the pears that my daddy made for me mixed with a little oatmeal.

Oi Pessoal, desculpa o sumiço masi eu tenho estado muito ocupado e sem tempo pra atualizar esse blog... eu devo começar dizendo que eu estou pesando 6.804 gramas e medindo 58.5 cm... mamãe diz que eu devo estar tendo um "salto de crescimento," pois minhas mãozinhas e pezinhos parecem muito maires do que antes, e estão desproporcionais para o resto do meu copro. O papai diz que não é isso não, e sim que Deus abençoa os de pés grandes -- ele diz isso e rí, mas eu não entendo a piada!

Eu continuo comendo papinha e comer com a colher fica mais fácila a cada dia... eu já esperimentei pêras, ameixas, e aveia, e minha favorita foi umas p6eras que o papai cozinhou com avaia para mim.

On Monday night I had a sleepover with daddy at the hospital, nothing bad but they had to study me while I was sleeping to determine if I still need to wear oxygen and my monitor at night. I can't imagine how they expected me to rest well while I was connected to 25 electrodes, 2 belts, and 3 pulse-ox monitors! We don't know the results yet but they had to hook me up to the oxygen after I was asleep for about 15 minutes because my O2 saturation fell a little below 92% for a few minutes. After that with the oxygen my saturation was at 99 and 100% all night long.

Na última segunda-feira, eu e o papai dormimos fora numa clínica do sôno... eles tinham que estudar o meu sôno pra ver se eu ainda preciso usar o oxigênio e o monitor cardíaco durante a noite. Eu acho que não passei no teste, mas não posso imaginar come eles esperavam que eu conseguisse dormir com 25 eletrodos, duas cintas, três monitores do O2, um microfone no pescoço e duas cânulas no nariz!!! Ainda estamos esperando ops resultados, mas depois de 15 minutos o nível de O2 na circulação caiu para baixo do limite de 92%, e eles passaram a bombear o gás.

I had a restless night and didn't sleep well as I usually do because I woke up about 5 or 6 times and needed my daddy for comfort. It was a strange bed and I didn't recognize the smells and sounds (it was a very noisy place). I guess daddy slept even less than me because all he wanted to do when we got home Tuesday morning was to go to bed and sleep for a while.

eu tive uma noite horrível, e claro que não consegui dormir tão bem come normalmente eu durmo em casa, e acabei acordando umas 5 ou 6 vezes pedindo pro papai me acalentar. Não só pelos instrumentos ligados à mim, mas também por ter sido uma cama diferente, cheiros diferentes, barulhos diferentes, tudo diferente da minha casa. Eu acho que o papai também teve uma noite ruim e não dormium muito, pois assim que chegamos em casa na terça de manhã, eue caiu na cama e dormiu por umas 4 horas!

Just Eat It!

Oh, well... the doctors always said I would have to catch up with my weight and lenght, so I am making my best to do so. Today, I went to see Dr. Mike 2, and he said that I am weighing 14 Lbs 4 Oz!!!

So, starting tomorrow, I am allowed to be spoon-fed... not that mommy and daddy were waiting for that "permit" as you can see by these pictures and video below!

Olá a todos... Os médicos sempre disseram que eu vou ter que trabalhar muito pra atingir o tamanho e peso médios dos outros bebês, então eu tenho batido um dobrado e estou chegando lá. Meu peso hoje, de acordo com o Dr. Mike 2 é 6.464 gramas!

Com isso, o médico me liberou pra começar a comer de colherinha... não que o papai e a mamãe estivessem esperando a "licensa" para me dar papinha, como vocês podem ver pelas fotos e vídeo nesse post.

Sassy e Eu... Me & Sassy

Oi gente! Tudo bem com vocês? Comigo tudo bem, também!

Esse é um post rapidinho apenas pra dizer que nos últimos dias eu passei a prestar mais atenção nos outros habitantes aqui de casa, principalmente na Sassy.

Ela é muito ciumenta e intrometida, sempre metendo o nariz (e o corpo inteiro) quando o papai está brincando comigo. Ontem, o papai estava tirando umas fotos de mim deitado na cama dele, quando a Sassy se meteu no meio... de qualquer forma, eu gosto de fazer carinho nela.

Como uma imagem fala mais que palavras, os deixo com algumas fotos que o papai tirou. Ah, e tem um vídeo no final também!

Lately I have been paying more attention to the other people living with me at home, especially Sassy... she is very jealous and putting her nose (and the rest of her body) between me and Daddy when we are playing together.

Yesterday, daddy propped me on his pillows to take some pictures, but all of sudden Sassy jumped on bed and wanted to be part of the shoot. What a bitch... litterally!

In any case, as you can see in the pictures above and video below, I like to pet her too!

7 months old today!

Hello to everyone reading my blog, I just wanted to tell you that I am seven months old today and doing great!

I had a visit with one of my doctors yesterday, the pulmonologist, and she made a bunch of changes for me to brag about.

To start, I no longer have to take my diuretics and my potassium. She said that I had grown out of the doses and no longer need them, she also told my mommy that she ordered the sleep study that I need to have before I can stop my night time oxygen and the monitor. I am excited for that! She also added one for my reflux that is supposed to help keep things from creeping up, it is called Reglan.

She said that I am looking and sounding great and had the nutritionist come to meet with my mommy. Since I am doing so well gaining weight, by the way I am now 13 lbs and 8 oz, I don't have to get up in the middle of the night anymore to eat. Mommy and daddy are both excited about that one.

She also told my mommy that I can now start to go out to places with her like the grocery store and the mall, now is the time to do it before flu season starts up and I need to stay in again.

But wait, I'm not finished yet...I have a few more accomplishments to brag about. When my physical therapist Lynn was here last week I had some things to show her too! I rolled over all by myself from my belly to my back, I am also very good now at handling things with my hands and can pass items from one hand to the other and back with no problems.

I like to play peek a boo by putting my silky tag blanket on my head and then pulling it off when mommy says "Where's Antonio". I am also making lots of sounds now, I have a comment for just about everything that happens.

I am working on sitting up by myself now and when my mommy sits behind me I do a great job and keep my hands out to the side to catch myself if I tip over. Lynn told mommy that most of my developmental skills are at the level of a 4 to 6 month old and that I am going to catch up to my real age pretty quick! For those of you who don't know my adjusted age is 3 and 1/2 months, that is how old I would be if I didn't come early. Most babies that are born early catch up to their real age by the time they are 2 years old but as you can see I am working very hard to do it faster.

Olá a todos que vêm aqui me visitar nesse meu cantinho na Internet! Queria apenas lembrar que hoje é meu aniversário de 7 meses, e que eu continuo muito bem, obrigado!

Eu fui visitar minha pneumologista ontem, e ela fez uma porção de mudanças na minha rotina -- todas para melhor, eu posso me gabar disso!



Pra começar, não preciso tomar mais nenhum diurético (eram dois antes) e o PotássioTo start, pois eu já estou bem grandinho e não preciso mais deles. A médica também falou que eu devo fazer o teste do sono nas próximas semanas, e se tudo der certo vão descontinuar o use norturno do oxygênio e do monitor cardíaco! Eu vou ficar muito contente quando isso acontecer, pois eu odeio a tubo do O2 no meu nariz...

Mas a médica também me receitou mais um medicamento pra ajudar com o Refluxo, chamado Reglan, que vai ajudar a manter a comida no meu estômago.

A médica também falou que meus pulmões parecem estar limpos e que eu estou um gato! Ela também fez com que a nutricionista da clínica viesse me ver, e uma vez que eu continuo ganhando peso (estava com 6.125 gramas) eu não preciso mais acordar no meio da noite pra comer... a mamãe e o papai estão muito contentes com essa mudança!

Além disso, eu estou liberado pra sair de casa, ir ou shopping ou supermercado com meus pais... na verdade agora é o melhor momento para essas escapada, pois daqui a pouco o inverno chega novamente, e eu vou ter que imbernar mais uma vez.

Mas espere, eu ainda não acabei... Eu tenho algumas outras notícias pra dar: Minha fisioterapeuta veio nas segunda-feira passada, eu eu tive algumas coisas pra mostrar à ele -- eu estava deitado de bruços e rolei para minhas costas! Além disso eu tembém consigo passarmeus brinquedos de uma mão para a outra, sem deixar cair! .

Eu adoro brincar de esconde-esconde com o papai e com a mamãe, colocando meu cobertorzinho sobre minha cbeça, e puxando ele quando eles falam "Cadê o Antônio?" Eu também estou "falando" um bocado, e tenho sempre uma opinião pra tudo que acontece ao meu redor.

Ultimamente eu estou trabalhando duro pra conseguir sentar sozinho, e a Lynn (fisioterapeuta) disse que eu estou com desenvolvimento de 4-6 meses o que é muito bom, pois minha idade ajustada é apenas 3.5 meses!

Quick Update

We've been quite busy since I got back from Japan, without a chance to update the blog. He looked so tall after my week off, but we measred him and he's only 23 inches.

All is well, except for Antonio not wanting to eat as much as he needs, and he is "parked" at 13 Lbz 6 Oz (estimated) for the last couple of weeks. He is still eating around 20 Oz a day, each bottle packed with rice cereal to avoid reflux. With that, he's having even more trouble evacuating -- it's rock solid! Poor baby...

Today we have our second apointment with the pulmonologist, and we hope that she will discontinue the use of the heart monitor and oxygen soon... we will come back to let you know how things went.

Eu estive super enrolado (além de morto!) desde que cheguei do Japão na sexta-feira, sem chances the atualizar o blog. Antonio parecia ter crescido um bocado com a minha ausênsia, mas quando o medimos, estava apenas com 58.4 cm.

Está tudo tranquilo por aqui, excetuando o fato do Antonio não querer comer o tanto quanto gostaríamos... Ele continua comendo apenas a média de 600 ml por dia, e com isso seu peso estacionou em 6.067 gramas nas ultimas semanas. O pior é que, por causa do refluxo, estamos colocando mais fariha de arroz, fazendo que o bichino sofra pra fazer cocô -- parece pedra!

Hoje o levaremos ao pneumologista pela segunda vez, e estamos esperençosos de que vão desscontinuar o uso do monitor cardíaco e do oxigênio... mas tarde voltaremos pra mandar mais notícias.
