Primeiramente, deixa eu gritar: Neeeeeeeense!!!! Esse Antonio é pé quente mesmo! 6 x 0, com direito a 3 golaços contra os hermanos... Neeeeeeense!!!!!

Pronto, extravazei a euforia, e agora vamos falar do Antonio. Pra começar, uma correção: a hérnia que ele tem não é abdominal e sim inguinal. Apesar de não ser perigoso, os médicos e enfermeira continuam observando, para que possam evitar qualquer complicação caso a hérnia fique estrangulada, o que requeriria cirurgia de emergência.

Tirando esse problema, o progresso do Antonio está indo de vento-em-popa: ontem passei boa parte da tarde com ele, e o segurei por quase uma hora (fotos e vídeos abaixo)! Durante a maior parte do tempo, tanto a respiração quanto os batimento cardíacos do Antonio estavam em níveis excelentes, levando a enfermeira a colocar o SIPAP pra funcional com apenas 20% de O2 e 18 ventilações por minuto... Mesmo assim, ele estava com 95-98% de saturação de O2! Além disso, hoje recebemos um excelente feedback da Dra. Bennett, e vão fazer muita mudanças no "regime" do Antonio:

1. Primeiramente reduziram ainda mais o número de ventilações por minuto que SIPAP está dando ao Antonio, agora para 10 vpm. Com essa redução, estão precisando dar mais O2 pra ele, mas o SIPAP esta ventilando a apenas 33% neste momento.
   


2. Descontinuaram de vez o uso do Albuterol e da Aminofilina (Aminophylline), e vão recomeçar a dar cafeina para ele. Os médicos acreditem que com a retirada daqueles dois medicamentos, a cafeina não deva aumentar tanto a frequ6encia cardíaca do Antonio.
   


3. Moveram a sonda da alimentação, recolocando-a no estômago (antes estamna diratamente nos intestinos) o que vai dar a ele a sensação de estar com a barriguinha cheia. Acho que isso é para cmeçar a treiná-lo para a amamentação, uma vez que também vão deixar ele "chupetar" no peito uma vez por dia.
   


4. Ele voltou a ganhar peso, e ontem estava com 1.310 gramas!

Let me start by saying: NEEEENSE! NEEEEEENSE!!! Antonio is really the new lucky charm for Fluminense's crowd! We won 6 x 0 against the "hermanos", being that 3 of the goals were, simply put, spectacular! Neeeeeeense!!!!!

OK, so with that said, we can start the actual post for today: First a correction, as Antonio's hernia is not in his abdomen but is an inguinal hernia. Although it is not dangerous, the doctors and nurse continue to check it throughout the day, so that they can prevent any complications in case that the hernia gets strangled, that would require an emergency surgery.

Other than this problem, Antonio's progress is great: yesterday I spent good part of the afternoon with him, and I held him for almost one hour (photos and videos above)! During most of the time, his heart rate and breathing rate were excellent, which made nurse Cathy reduce the O2 being pumped to 20% even though the SIPAP was only giving him 18 bpm! Moreover his O2 sats were between 95-98% the entire time!

Today, we received excellent feedback from Dr. Bennett, and they went already and made several changes to Antonio's "regimen":

• First they reduced even more the number of breaths per minute given by the SIPAP, now to 10 bpm. With this, Antonio is requiring a little more O2, but the SIPAP setting is still at only 33% at this moment.



• They discontinued for good the use of Albuterol and Aminophylline , but started giving him some caffeine. Doctors believe that, with the discontinuation of those two medications, the caffeine should not affect Antonio's heart rate.



• They repositioned the feeding tube to Antonio's stomach (before is was directly into his intestines), so that might give him the sensation of having his belly full. I believe that is to start training him for breast-feeding, since they will also let him nuzzle on Sandra's breast once a day.



• He also showed good weight gain yesterday, now weighing 2 Lbs 14.2 oz!
