De tanto me ver de chinelo de dedo, nosso pequeno guerreiro resoveu calçar os dele para dar uma volta -- aqui nos EUA, além de não deformar e não ter cheiro, Havaiana é coisa de gente chique!



After seeing me wearing flip-flops all summer long, Antônio decided to put his on, and go for a walk... That's ok, because Havaianas are still very fashionista!

Alvíssaras!!! No meio de tanta notícia ruim sobre meu Fluminese (renato gaucho de novo NÃO!!!), eis que minha vovó me manda um presente para me alegrar... me comprou um carrão elétrico, o que me faz um menino ecológico!!!



Since I have been a little sad because my soccer team in Brazil is not doing so great this year, my vovó Margarida gave me a great gift: she bought me an electric car... now I am going green!!!!

Pra quem acha que o Antônio não cresceu muito, essa é a baciazinha que usávamos para dar banho nele na UTIN... agora só dá pra lavar os pés ou a bundinha!

Como é grande o neném & How big is the baby?

Ontém nós começamos a empacotar as coisas do Antônio para a mudança que se aproxima... mexe daqui, mexe dali, derrepente ele acha a primeira roupinha que ele ganhou, quando ainda na UTIN.

Infelizmente não consegui achar uma foto come ele vestindo essa roupinha, mas eu me lembro que quando era tão grande quando ele a vestiu que parecia uma saco de batata... eu tenteivestirnele, mas o bracinho dele nem cabia ns mangas!

Agora olha a diferença!



Yesterday we stated packing Atntônio's things for moving to the new home and all of sudden, in the middle of his closet, he found the first clothes that he got as present while still at the NICU.

Unfortunately, I could not find any any pictures of him wearing them, but I remember it very well that it looked huge on him... I tried to put it on him, but his arms did not fit through the sleeves!

Now look at the difference!

Afternoons with Antônio & Sessão da Tarde com o Antônio

Apenas um post rapidinho pra mostrar as atividades preferidas do Antônio: é esse corre-corre o dia inteiro -- eu acho que nunca estive tão em forma como agora!

Just a quick post to show what activities Antônio likes the most: he runs around like this all day long -- I don't remember ever being in such a good shape as I am now!

Ai Caramba!!!

Slowly we are improvig Antonio's vocabulary... the last expression he learned was "Ai caramba!" which he started to repeat after hearing me sying it... I know that Bart Simpson uses it on the sho, but actually that is a coloquial expression in Brazil, an I use it al the time.

Aos poucos nós vamos aumentndo o vocabulío do Antônio A última expressão que ele aprendeu foi "Ai Caramba!" a qual ele começou a repetir assim que me ouviu falando!

4th of July & 4 de Julho

The holiday came and went, and it was great! we had a cookout with our family next door, we enjoyed the pool (although I was afraid of going in) and I got to work on my tan!

O feriadão veio e foi-se, e foi muito bom: nós fizemos um churrasco com a nossa familia da casa a lado, aproveitamos a piscina (embora eu tivesse medo de entrar na água) e e pude "trabalhar" no meu bonzeado!



But the best was going surfing with daddy!

Mas o melhor foi ter ido surfar com o papai!



In the evening, my pal Corrine came to the party and got to visit with me in my apartment... we played a lot!

À noite, minha camarada Corrine veio à festa e visitou-me no meu kitnet... nós brincamos à beça!

Apresentndo os Resultados & The results are In

Apesar da falta de participantes, todos aqueles que responderam ao concurso acertaram a resposta: a difereça estava no rosto do Antônio, pois ele nào está mais com os "bandaids" que seguram a cânula nasal.... e por quê? Por que no último dia 19/6 levamos o Antônio para fazer mais um teste do sono, mas dessa vez ele estudo direitinho e passou como louvor!

Então, desde o dia 26 paramos de usar a cânula e dar O2 para ele ir dormir... e o Antônio agora está livre de todos as prescrições e rotinas a que ele se submeteu desde o seu nascimento, uma vez que o oxigênio era a última dessas prescrições.

E com isso, nosso pequeno guerreiro passou a ser um menino normal -- sem nada de penduricalhos, cabos, tubos, ou monitores... apenas um menino lindo, esperto, simpático, especial!



Despite the lack of participants, all those who answered our quiz were correct: what was different about Antônio was his face, as he was not wearing the "stickies" that hold the nasal cannula in place... and why? Well, because on June 19 we took Antônio to have another sleep study, but this time he studied harder and passed with a high grade!

So, since the 26th we have stopped using the cannula and give O2 to Antônio go to bed... and Antonio now is free of all of the prescriptions and routines that he has been submitted to since birth, since oxygen was the last one of these prescription.

And, with that, our little warrior is now a normal boy -- without any cables, tubes, or monitors... just a handsome, smart, special boy!





Ah, antes que eu me esqueça... o prêmio é poder vibrar com a gente por mais essa vitória!!!

Ah, before I forget, the prize is to be able to cheer with us because of Antonio's victory!
